Christie's to sell Lily Safra jewels

Jewels belonging to Lily Safra, billionaire widow of banker Edmond Safra, are estimated to fetch more than $20 million at a May auction whose proceeds will benefit 20 charities selected by the philanthropist, Christie's said on Tuesday.
The 70 gems, being offered at its Geneva sale on May 14, include diamonds, rubies and sapphires as well as antique pieces dating to the late 18th-century and period jewellery, it said.
The Safra couple is known for their philanthropic work, including building Jerusalem's Safra Square and donations to the Louvre in Paris, where a gallery bears their name.

Italian police recover 37 stolen masterpieces

Italian police have recovered a collection of 37 masterpieces which were stolen more than 40 years ago, including a painting by Van Dyck and others attributed to Rubens and El Greco.
The oil paintings, worth an estimated £6 million (7.5 million euros), were stolen in 1971 from the house of a wealthy businessman in Rome but rediscovered when police recently raided two homes in the capital owned by a 50-year-old woman.
The paintings include Portrait of a Knight by Van Dyck, Christ on the Cross by Rubens and The Baptism of Christ by Nicolas Poussin, a 17th century French artist who spent most of his working life in Rome.

The latest collection by Alexander McQueen was Sarah Burton's fourth catwalk collection since inheriting the designer's chair, and her best yet. Seductive and feminine, it drew on organic and naturalistic imagery: dandelion heads were delicately embroidered onto evening dresses, while layers of fuschia tulle were layered to create gowns as dense and gaudy as bauble-decked Christmas trees. "I wanted it to be very positive," said Burton after the show. "It is about a beautiful future."

Elly's trip to Rio

Elly is a very good friend of mine who lives in St.Petersburg.We met 5 years ago when I was staying at their beach house in Cabo Roig.I fallen in love with her personality at once and we became friends since then.
