Christian Dior/Spring 2012 Couture.

Are you ready for the Ball? The House of Dior will probably never really get over the New Look, just like Chanel can never really abandon its iconic suit. With its characteristic nipped waist, full skirt, tailored top, and yards of extra material to give it all volume, the New Look became iconic and timeless because it’s so adaptable and interpretable. The result is very French, very Dior, and very chic. The ever-so-fabulous Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune said this of the Dior Haute Couture Collection in Paris: "The collection by Bill Gaytten, Mr. Galliano’s right hand for his entire career, was way ahead of the previous couture show, which was a romp that looked as if it had been done by a bunch of art college kids".
